Music Together is a music therapy program that helps enhance family relationships, attachment and communication between parents and young children through music, instrument play, drama, dance and other creative arts.
Aimed at preschool aged children up to five years old and their parents or caregivers, Music Together provides a safe and welcoming environment that promotes positive interactions between parent and child over a 45 minute structured music therapy session.
Music Together sessions are conducted by qualified Music Therapists, with Uniting Church and community volunteers assisting to ensure the sessions run smoothly. These sessions are aimed at not only enhancing the positive relationship between parents and children, but to also enhance the mood and outlook of the parents. Positive parents help create a safe, welcoming, and loving environment in which their children live and grow. This impacts the child’s development, increasing their opportunities to fully participate in their community, maximising their potential.
Accessible to all families, including low income families, Music Together is an enjoyable and creative way for parents to engage with their children, strengthening the bond between them, enhancing their relationship, and providing both parent and child with positive growth that will assist them with social interaction and development.
